Golf Projects

Nicklaus Club Beijing - Beijing, China

This project has become one of the best courses in all of Asia, being named a finalist of International Development of the Year in 2014.  This redevelopment of an existing 18 course made use of hundreds of recycled irrigation heads that were only a couple of years old to save on capital costs.  Detailed cost benefit analysis were performed to determine the most appropriate use of funds for the project that has become one of PSI’s crown jewels.

Lake Malaren Golf Club North and South Courses- Shanghai, China

This redevelopment of existing 36 hole project by Jack Nicklaus II is located in the northern portion of Shanghai.  The south course hosts theChina Masters tournament and is one of the most prestigious fields in all of Asia.  PSI’s scope includes the golf course master planning, design, documentation, oversight and in field staking.

Shanghai Lanhai International - Chongming Island, China

This project involved the development of a new 36 hole resort facility on Chongming Island just outside of Shanghai.  The courses were set up to be dramatically different including a traditional woodlands style course, complemented with a separate demanding 18 hole links course.  The  development was constructed with a very aggressive timeline with PSI making over a dozen visits to ensure that the irrigation was laid out and installed properly and according to the design requirements

Cao Fei Dian Wetlands International Golf Club- Tangshan, China

This project in Hebei province was unique due to the sensitive wetlands on the site.  Water conservation was a key requirement which was addressed through the use of adjustable part circle heads along all perimters to prevent any irrigation water from entering the wetland environment.  This also minimized water usage to only the maintained turf areas and kept fertilizers on the golf course, and not in the wetlands.

TPC at Baha Mar - Nassau, Bahamas

PSI has been involved with the design and development of the Baha Mar Resort in Nassau Bahamas over a six year period.  All irrigation systems are supplied by pump stations and distribution pipe systems using blended collected rain water and reclaimed water.  The irrigation system is controlled by a single central controller with flow sensing and management control equipment.  TPC Baha Mar Golf Course is a Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course where PSI provided full design and construction field services.

Elanora Country Club - Sydney, Australia

This project included the complete renovation of all 18 holes of this elite country club in New South Wales. The project site has rolling terrain and is situated on bedrock throughout the course. In addition, the course is very prone to lightening strikes. PSI developed specialized grounding requirements at the satellites including individual spray zones to maintain constant moisture around the grounding rods and plates. The course was designed for single head control and particular attention was paid to minimizing the overthrow of water into the surrounding bush to maintain the golf course architects vision of a distressed edge condition.

Jack Nicklaus Golf Club of Korea - Seoul, Korea

This Signature course by Jack Nicklaus is located outside of Seoul in the New Songdo City free trade zone.  This 18 hole golf course held the 2015 Presidents Cup between the best players from the USA against the best from the "rest of the world excluding Europe".  PSI’s scope includes the golf course as well as the surrounding residential villas and town homes and associated public areas.

DLF Golf Club - Gurgaon, India

This Gary Player Signature project at one of the most prestigious developments in all of India involved the addition of a new 9 hole facility followed by the redevelopment of an additional 9 holes.  Large topography changes were created from a flat site to create dramatic vistas.  PSI was also responsible for the landscape irrigation design of the 2 km linear park, roadways and clubhouse facilities.

Kalhaar Blues and Greens - Ahmedebad, India

This project consisted of the irrigation design for 18 holes of world class golf in one of the harshest climates in the world.  Temperatures in the summer can exceed 50 degrees Celsius.  Combined with monsoonal rains, the environmental challenges were significant.  PSI also designed the irrigation for the 600+ residential villas and infrastructure focusing on maintaining the clients budget while considering the maintenance challenges.

The Dye Preserve - Jupiter, USA

PSI was privileged to work directly with the renowned golf course architect Pete Dye on the renovation of one of his signature courses in Jupiter, Florida. We provided on site design which developed to achieve water efficient head layouts among unique contours and turf areas that are recognizable parts of a Pete Dye golf course. PSI worked closely with the shaper and golf course superintendent to blend seamlessly with the existing irrigation layout, controls and piping hydraulics.

Shiloh Falls - Counce, USA

PSI designed the irrigation system for this 18 hole championship Marriott Resort lakeside golf course layout in the hills of Southwest Tennessee. The irrigation design used surface water from the Tennessee River for the signature par 3 hole where a inclined tram car took players from the elevated tee to the riverside green. Well water and a conventional irrigation pump station were the water supply for the system at the higher elevations on the course.

Pacific Dunes Golf Club - Medowie, Australia

New irrigation design for an 18 hole golf course, driving range and housing estate development in the Hunter region of NSW. The water for the course came from an on site wet-well which was designed to service the entire course from beginning of construction and grow-in through to and including the completed irrigation works. Rainbird central control using both hard wire and radio communication was used throughout the project and allowed for future expansion of system to incorporate club house, housing and resort landscape.
